  • The end of Paypal???  -  June 30, 2006

Recently Google (yet again…) have come up with a payment system that’s totally secure, easy to use and completely universal. In theory you should be able to pay for anything on the Internet safely and without any of the fraud and other nastyness that some poor unfortunate people have experienced with Paypal for instance.

Only drawback is that it is only available in the US at the moment, but Google say they are working on getting it over here in the near future.

I am looking forward to seeing some integration details as im quite interested as to how some older sites (im sure a mod will be available at time of release for OScommerce) that use older payment systems will be able to use this new platform.

I can see this as the next step in Ecommerce as its what a lot of people have been looking for. One thing a lot of online retailers have been trying to do for a long time is getting their customers to completely trust the security of their online payment system. And im sure that people will be less hesitant in passing over their credit card details to a company as large and trusted as Google.

Keep your eyes peeled on “Gpay” as im sure it will be the next big step for all Internet retailers, big or small.
